WU- Whats good homies, If you can , please introduce your selfs to our readers and state if you an MCEE, Producer or both?

WYZDOM- Im a both and Producer and a Emcee, but Im a engineer as well.

ROPER- My name is Roper, producer/EmCee.

MAHTIE BUSH- Yo, what's good? My name is MahtieBush; I am a Emcee, Producer, and a Bboy....

WU- So how Long you been in the hip hop game and how did it get started for you?

MAHTIE BUSH- Man, I wouldn't call it a game, it's more of a lifestyle or a culture so I've been in this culture since I was about 5....I started Emceeing at age 12. My cousin Damion got me started by just playing LL Cool J, Sugar Hill Gang, and Bboying......

ROPER-My name is Roper, producer/EmCee.I been an EmCee since like 99, getting my skills up to par and learning the business aspect of music and also how to be a better EmCee. Basically when I first started rapping, I had nobody to turn to for beats, so I learned how to make beats from a guy who owned his home studio and I would sit in the sessions where he would make beats for cats on the spot from the MPC, a Korg keyboard and a multi-track recorder. Then I picked up on it and kept learning how to make beats, mix down and the engineering process and I kept learning from there. I went to American River College for recording engineering and music business%u2026I been making beats and producing for about 7 years now. I did my first album and two mixtapes. In the process of my next album called The Ray Brau Project.

WYZDOM- Ive been in the game since 96, back in the early 90s My best friend The Late Jerry Frye (R.I.P.) and I would walk around Highlands and Beat Box and Freestyle. Like it was our religion. From there in 96 is when I formed a group call Destructive Antagonist with 4 other hot EMCEEs from my high school. The Crew consisted of originally 4 EMCEEs, Mental Giant, Shenanigan ShowGun, Scientist who know goes by Floe Montana, and My self. We basically would battle all the street and want to be thug EMCEES at lunch time. Upon graduation we immediately got into the studio producing tracks. On occasion we would hit the city up to find a session to reck some EMCEEs. As we networked we teamed up with a group called ISK, Haze 1 and K-Rah in 97-98 and formed a bigger group called Pitfall Caverns. This group eventually grew to about 23 EMCEEs b4 everyone stop coming around. You know life happens and priorities shift. Anyway around 98-99 I transferred to ARC to Study Production and Music Business. and Met Bentley aka Verbal Kraze and Rskee. We would eventually form a Group called Verbal Lock. This was the Birth of my Production / Record Label Cavern-Men Entertainment. We worked hard for about 2 years recording songs, rocking shows and going to music business conferences networking, a long the way we acquired 8 artist that we signed to the label. In 2001 we released our first album Verbal Lock. in 2002 Verbal Lock Broke up and I shift the focused on the artist we had signed. In 03 we released Some inner conflicts happened with a few artist and We ended up dropping them. As the rest of the artist moved on Bentley and I took the advice of our contacts at the Major labels and formed Verbal Venom.

WU- incase some body reading has been under a rock for the last year give a brief break down of what Sac Hates Hip Hop is and the movement it express'?

ROPER-You would have to take a look at the hip hop scene in the 916 for the past 18-24 months to get a clear idea of what it is. At the time it was created, if I got my story straight it was around the time the Library got shut down, there were no shows at the Press Club, or very many venues and there was very little to no buzz as far as hip hop was concerned in the city. Sacramento is a very conservative city, so an aggressive and diverse music genre like hip-hop is not going to get the positive feedback from the majority of people in the city. From administrative people at Sac State to city cops and some venue owners do not favor hip hop, but I highly doubt they will tell you straight out. As we all know, actions speak louder than words. So the movement is basically a statement saying how wack the city can be at times. Cause you can be having the time of your life out here, the next thing you know the place is getting shut down by the cops, or some ignorant fuck is outside shooting, or the rapper thats suppose to perform is acting like a little bitch cause he or she didnt get their way. All of those things express a form of hate against hip hop. So Mahtie Bush came up with the idea to put it on a shirt.

MAHTIE BUSH- Sac Hates Hip-Hop is a way of getting the community to wake up, know what's going on in the Hip-Hop Scene and support the local artist. Its about knowing why these club owners don't want hip-hop in their clubs and why the radio hosts say "where hip-hop lives" knowing they don't come to local shows. It's about telling the truth on the media that will twist a club shooting into a hip-hop night knowing it's a college night that spins top 40 and so on.....thats what Sac Hates Hip-Hop is to me.....

WYZDOM-Sac Hates Hip Hop is an Awareness Program For the ignorant! Props to Cawzlos for that Breakdown... We are trying to bring our Hip-Hop Scene together while informing our fans and potential fan what is going on in our city. This is a Positive movement. WU- What inspired the creation of the movement to begin?

MAHTIE BUSH- (The SHORT version) It started when The Library got shut down over a tragic shooting that had nothing to do with hip-hop but they said it was a hip-hop night. After that it went from there.....The 916 Leak (A local radio show that played local Emcee's and underground rap) got shut down....103.5 The Bomb said they wanted to move in a different direction.....Umm....then a lot of club owners like The Stoney Inn didn't even want to fuck with Hip-Hop no more.....so man....I had to say something. And niggas be acting like they never said it before.....I ain't the first to say it....I'm just the first to stand by my word cause most niggas just don't want to say shit and won't go against the grain....Not me. Fuck that!

WYZDOM- This is was a direct result of the venue The Library getting shut down because of a shooting. Unfortunately a student a killed, but they blamed it on it being a HIP-HOP event when in fact it was a college night. The Hip Hop Community took offense to that. Seriously, This movement started because we are Tired of being the scape goat. Any and every-time something bad happens in the Media blames it on Hip-Hop Music and the culture. This not only affects our image as music artist but it also affects our ability to book shows at venues and to draw decent crowds. The Media Never puts a positive spin our culture. Hip-Hop Music is being blackballed in our City. Why is there only a hand full of clubs that will book Hip-Hop in our City? We are just trying to wake people up.

WU- In a nut shell, Whats up with all the Sac Hate and Sac Loves Hip Hop rivalry? What started all this and what%us it even over?

ROPER- This is what people dont understand about Sac Hates Hip-Hop; Saying SHHH (sac Hates Hip Hop) does not mean every individual in Sac hates it. It is saying that some of the residents in the 916 do hate it or do not support it for whatever reasons. Like, if you dont come out to a show of an artist you like or know, buy the local CDs, or just even spread the word about a talented artist like Mahtie Bush or a Doey Rock or myself, then what are you saying to yourself?? YOU BASICALLY DO HATE HIP HOP because you are not trying to help the people in your own city blow up. It has been done successfully in Houston, now Florida, (can we get next????) We have a sac loves hip hop mixtape, the concept of SHHH came up form this camp, and I can care less about who made t-shirts or anyone saying sac loves hip hop. There are people in the 916 who love hip-hop, just like me but if you know that you like hip hop then we are not talking about you. So dont take offense to it if and when you see that slogan I mean if you LOVE hip hop. We are talking about the people who try to bury this hip hop thing in Sacramento. We are preventing it from dying, and putting that saying right in their face to let them know that we know whats going on in our own city. We are not backing down from anybody trying to kill hip hop in Sacramento. Let me ask you this? Before SHHH movement started, was their any weekly story in their regarding hip hop?? If so, was it about anyone local?? Where could you perform besides the Library and maybe the Distillery?? What happened to the 916 leak and the Future flava show?? Now you tell me that we shouldnt be wearing Sac Hates Hip Hop on a shirt? After we did all this SHHH promotion and awareness, you got a lot more avenues to see the culture in the city. I feel like this opened up people%us eyes and made people take a step back and think about what they are doing to their selves and the culture in their own city. They stepped back and thought to their selves, what they saw on a shirt and what they were doing to make somebody wanna wear it. So, people had to switch up their game and make it more apparent that they did. Its like you being an American and being patriotic, but all of a sudden when 9/11 happened everybody started buying flags and we support the troop stickers. Why didnt you show that love before. It takes something drastic for people to take a look at their selves and change what they are doing. So, whatever rivalry there is suppose to be, there really isnt cause we made SHHH. If anything you got people out there biting our style and not even understanding MAHTIE BUSH- LOL that shit....There is no Rivalry.....We all love hip-hop.....Shit....WE put out the Sac Loves Hip-Hop Mixtape! Niggas just got emotions. They get so hurt like some girl broke up with em or some shit....hell, after people read this "They" might think I'm talking about some one when I'm not....I'm just saying niggas need to quit crying about sac hates sac loves....just support and make good music and be coo.....

WYZDOM-This is what people dont understand about Sac Hates Hip-Hop; Saying SHHH (sac Hates Hip Hop) does not mean every individual in Sac hates it. If anything you got people out there biting our style and not even understanding WU- So you guys just dropped an album in the street. Whats the project called and what can we expect to hear on it and where can we go pick up a copy?

MAHTIE BUSH-Sac Hates Hip-Hop The Album is in stores at ANY Dimple records or R5 and The Beat. Your gonna hear a lot of good music.....people think its all about "HATE HATE HATE" naw...Nigga I'm a artist too....there's good music on that album.....but their is a message on each song period. Also check out The Real Sac Kingz Mixtape Peace to 26Hrz and Cawzlos

WYZDOM- Its Called SAC HATES HIP HOP. and you can expect nothing you think you will expect. We have a crazy production line up from Roper, Myself, to M.I Geezus to Timbaland. The bars on it are sick too. Very witty Very Current! Its a well put together album and my personal opinion its one of the hottest albums the 916 has ever released into the market. You Can Pick it up, @ R5, Records, and All the Dimple Location. You can also pick one up online at sachateshiphop.com and I-Tunes. ROPER- Its basically what this is called SAC HATES HIP HOP; you can go to dimples, the beat on J Street, and some other places I dont even know about. WU -As independent artist, what%u2019s you opinion on the rap scene on a Local Level, what it lacks and what it needs to prevail as a positive place for hip hop.

ROPER- On a local level, I do believe there are a lot of cliques, but nobody is really trying to go out to another area to see whats poppin. Just cause you are the shiznit in the Heights dont mean you got the city on lock. I just think the city lacks everything except artists. Not enough venues, managers, or business people There are also so many rappers/producers, but the quality isnt there. I think its cause everyone wants to be a star but don%u2019t have the qualities to be. I think cliques should try to concentrate on one guy to be the front man to take you to the next level and then everybody will eat and see the big payday. Until then, the next generation in the 916 will see the same hard struggles we did and we are doing what the people came before us are doing too. MAHTIE BUSH-Shit its dope right now....niggas got sound now doing shows in venues that wouldn't allow us in until I said some shit and even though people might not want to admit that....they know deep down what's good....But yeah, the scene is getting stronger and there is more support and as long as we keep going in that direction then we will continue to grow....

WYZDOM-The local Scene needs to embrace themselves and stop hating on each-other period. We got hella talent here but no resources. Thats what the scene lacks is resources. We need more venues and promoters who really care about the scene. The scene needs to be educated. Step your Music Business game Up. If we all pull together we can all get paid. Once these start to happen our scene will thrive.

WU- It seems more and more like theres new youngsters coming into the game, trying to compete in the same saturated market of indie hip hop artist. Whas you advice for these cats new to the game?

WYZDOM- Step Your bar game up, Step you Business Game up, Be your self! and dont suck!

MAHTIE BUSH- Just do you. Don't worry about what niggas say....'cause in the end, if they ain't helping you, then fuck 'em. Get tough skin quick, 'cause you WILL get tested.

ROPER-Be original dont try to make a CLUB HIT, or anything like that. If people wanna dance to it, regardless what you call it, its gonna play in the club. If its good and you promote it right, it will play. And, holla at me for some beats!!! I got the right price for you.

WU- Do you guys Vote and if so who do plan on voting for?

ROPER- OBAMA, straight up!!! McCain looks like he will do the country like REAGAN did. Dont trust McCain. And whats the deal with people voting for Kevin Johnson, he is a border line sex offender, and he never shows up to debates and I never heard him talk about his political issues. I think he will run the city into the ground and run all kinds of financial scams.

WYZDOM- Obama baby

MAHTIE BUSH- Nope I don't vote....Electorial College's have the final say so a popular vote don't mean shit....ask AL GORE
